Conservator acts on behalf of a person needing assistance and protection.

Conservatee is the person needing the assistance and protection.

Some states use different terminology; accordingly other states may refer to an equivalent case as a "guardianship."

Conservatorships/Guardianships

In a conservatorship, the Court appoints someone - called the Conservator - to act on behalf of a person needing assistance and protection - the Conservatee. California has Conservatorships exclusively to protect an adult (18 years of age or over); and Guardianships to protect minors (less than 18).
